Braids and Cornrows
If you wear braids or cornrows and plan to add synthetic hair to your existing hair, it is essential to soak the synthetic hair in Apple Cider Vinegar prior to applying it to your natural hair. To do this, take a basin and fill it with water, leaving enough space so it is filled close to the top. Next, add a jar of at least 16oz of Apple Cider Vinegar into the basin of water, and proceed to soak the synthetic braiding hair thoroughly until you start to notice the toxins floating up in the water. After soaking, be sure to rinse the hair well, then use a clarifying shampoo to cleanse it properly, and finish off with a conditioner to eliminate any lingering odors, before laying the hair flat on a towel to dry completely.
Additionally, it is important not to allow the braids to remain in your hair for more than three weeks, and definitely no longer than four weeks at most. Prolonged wear of the braid style, often extending for months, can weaken the hair shaft significantly, leading to potential hair loss over time. While you are enjoying the braids, make an effort to shampoo and condition your natural hair regularly. Alternatively, consider scheduling a Steam Treatment for your hair, as this method provides necessary moisture to the hair shaft and strands while promoting circulation to the scalp, ultimately contributing to healthier hair.
