Protect Your Hair From Heat Damage

Protect Your Hair From Heat Damage
Even with a healthy head of hair—or when wearing a hair replacement system—excessive heat can quickly cause dryness and breakage. As a rule, use as little heat as possible. Flat ironing every day is not recommended, and when you do use hot tools, keep the temperature moderate—especially on light, gray, or blonde hair, which is more fragile.

Instead, consider healthier styling options. Wrapping the hair and sitting under a hooded dryer or cap, or setting the hair with rollers, provides a smoother finish with far less stress than blow-drying from start to finish. A great technique is to allow your hair to dry about 50% naturally or under the dryer, then finish with a blow dryer before flat ironing or using a straightening comb. This reduces both the intensity and duration of heat exposure.

And don’t forget nighttime protection—always sleep with a silk or satin wrap or pillowcase to maintain moisture, minimize friction, and extend the life of your style. This practice is equally important for clients with braids.
